There has been an Inn here for so long that it is uncertain when it was first built.

It became part of the Devonshire family’s estate around 1830 when it was acquired from the Duke of Rutland. It was named the Cavendish (formerly the Peacock Inn) after extensive renovations in 1975.

You will find peace within the building, with its elegant rooms, extensive artwork (much from Chatsworth House) and magnificent views over the Estate towards Chatsworth itself. The House can be reached on foot (a 20 minute walk) through the gate opposite the hotel front entrance, bearing left across the field.

Add to this the hotel’s enviable location, close by so many other wonders of the Peak District and one begins to appreciate the possibilities of a memorable stay.
