*YAT 40th ANNIVERSARY* From Hamlet to Hollywood: the Diamond Jubilee Celebration

10.00am – 5.00pm, Barley Hall, normal admission prices apply.

Barley Hall’s stunning exhibition of historic costumes from the movies reopens with this glittering new makeover, marking the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations. Firm favourites worn by Elizabeth Taylor and by Colin Firth as the ever-popular Mr Darcy will be joined by costumes worn by a range of on-screen royals, all telling intriguing stories linked to our royal family. New costumes will include those worn by Keira Knightly and Ralph Fiennes in The Duchess, Rhys Ifans in Anonymous (which explores the theory that it was in fact Edward De Vere, Earl of Oxford, who penned Shakespeare's plays for Elizabeth I), and Kathy Bates as Queen Victoria in Around the World in 80 Days. Also on display is the costume worn by Johnny Depp in From Hell, the story of Jack the Ripper (who some say was a member of the Queen's family), and 4 costumes from The King’s Speech, including that worn by the young Elizabeth II.
