for Tom Hart Dyke’s Lullingstone Plant Fair as your favourite British event.

This May Lullingstone Castle, one of the oldest family estates in the country, opens its gates to all ‘plant nuts’ and plant fans keen on viewing the best plants in the South East at Tom Hart Dyke’s first personal plant fair: The Lullingstone Plant Fair, Sunday May 6th 2007. Visitors to the Lullingstone Plant Fair will also be able to view the historic family mansion of Lullingstone Castle (frequented by Henry VIII and Queen Anne) St Botolphs’ Church(which contains some of the oldest stain glass  windows in England) and take a tour around the famous ‘World Garden of Plants’ as seen on the BBC2 this spring. Tom hopes that the day will prove to be an exciting and fun packed horticultural experience for both visitors and exhibitors with plenty to do and see, with the cream of the crop and the best growers around in attendance. Tom has invited the best growers and nursery specialists in the South East to attend the fair.  Exhibitors and sellers at the event will include: world leading orchid specialists McBean’s Orchids from East Sussex; Derek Lloyd Dean, world famous plantsman and Chelsea multi gold medal winner;  Madrona Nursery from Bethersden, Kent; Iris of Sissinghurst - gold medal winners from Goudhurst; Dyson’s Nurseries from Sevenoaks; Sheil Chapman Clematis -  world famous clematis specialist from Essex; Oak Tree Nursery from Maidstone; Cookoo Box Nursery from Maidstone Kent - new growers from Kent who have just won their first place at the Gardener’s World Exhibition in Birmingham 2007; Riverside Fuchsias;  and Hadlow College. The fair intends to celebrate all that is great about horticulture in Kent and Sussex and act as a possible annual meeting place for all the independent nursery specialists who have been hit hard by the water shortages, drought fears and trials of running a small business in such a harsh climate for horticulture. Entrance fee: usual ticket price for Lullingstone, which includes entrance to plant fair, The Castle, World Garden and grounds. Adults £6; senior citizens £5.50; children £2.50; family £12.50. 01322 862114
